Tesla Cybertruck Delivery Checklist

If you are taking delivery of a Tesla Cybertruck, check out the following checklist below. It may help you catch some defects, imperfections, or issues with your Cybertruck before you take delivery and have to schedule a repair appointment at some point down the road.

Tesla Cybertruck Delivery Checklist

What To Bring

If you decide to take delivery at the Tesla service center, instead of home delivery, be sure to bring these items:

  • Payment (cashier’s check, ACH/routing, wire transfer)
  • Proof of insurance
  • Drivers license
  • Printed copy of this checklist
  • Trade in vehicle with keys (if applicable)
  • Tesla phone app (Android here and Apple OS here), downloaded and logged in to your account.
  • A camera to photograph imperfections defects or imperfections (optional)
  • A small flashlight in case light is needed to highlight defects or imperfections (optional)
  • A plastic set of digital calipers to measure body panel gaps or misalignment (optional)
  • A digital multimeter to test 120 volt and 240 volt outlets (optional)
  • A USB SSD with some FLAC files (such as these here) to test the stereo sound system (optional, but you’re going to want a USB SSD to record dashcam and Sentry videos in the future, so might as well bring it to the delivery

Log The Delivery Process

  • Get the full name of the Tesla associate who will assist you with the delivery
  • Make a note of the date and time you being the inspection before delivery
  • Inquire of the associate whether there have been any error codes and/or repairs to the Cybertruck they are delivering to you

Verify Pre-Delivery Vehicle Record

  • Verify your correct and full name is on the paperwork
  • Verify your correct address on paperwork
  • Make sure your VIN number matches what’s on your paperwork
  • Verify the price is correct– including pricing of any added upgrades
  • Verify the configuration makes what you configured

Exterior – Front

  • Open and close all doors multiple times, and listen for rattles
  • Verify that the rear doors open a full 90 degrees

    • Rear doors (door pocket, pull string)

Cargo Bed and “Vault”

    • Inspect all slats, seals, open and closes even

    • Ensure tailgate is aligned properly on both sides

  • Test the CT’s entire stereo sound system by selecting a speaker fidelity test track on Spotify or YouTube.

Charging

  • Charge port
    • Ensure charge port opens/closes properly and is aligned properly
    • Ensure charger plugs in and removes easily
    • Ensure indicator light turns on
      • White = Ready to charge
      • Blue solid = Scheduled to charge
      • Blue blinking = Preparing to charge (takes a few seconds, be patient)
      • Green blinking = Charging ongoing
      • Green solid = Charge complete
      • Orange = Not plugged in correctly, re-align
      • Red = Error
      • RAINBOW = Easter egg, pressing the button 10x
  • Test Various Connectors
    • J1772 (most common non-Tesla charger)
    • NEMA 14-50
    • CCS adapter (for faster charging at places like Electrify America, EV Go)
    • Tesla Supercharger
    • Tesla home charger

Post-delivery Inspection

  • Verify that your car was marked as “delivered” in Tesla’s network
  • Keep copies of all documentation (ex motor vehicle purchase agreement, DMV forms)
  • Submit a service request via Tesla phone app for fix/finish issues (check with your service advisor when this must be done by)
